Yes! You can pass your test for the first time. Read on to find out how.

Make sure you use your instructor’s car

There will be cars that you can use available at your test centre, but it just makes sense to book and use your instructor’s car. After all, this is the vehicle that you are familiar with, and it can give you that all-important edge when it comes to passing your test for the first time.

Remember you have a 15 point allowance

It is very common for people taking their driving test to notice they have made a mistake and then give up, believing everything is lost and that they have failed. However, this is not always the case, as you have an allowance of 15 minors during your test!

What this means is you may have made a mistake, but could still be on target to pass, so it’s very important that you don’t give in there and then. Instead, stay calm, carry on, and do your best. Remember you won’t know whether you have passed or failed for sure until the test is over.

Familiarise yourself with test routes

Ok, so you won’t know the precise route that you will be asked to take on your driving test, but you can be sure of one thing. You will need to navigate at least some of the roads located around the driving test center.

With that in mind, getting to know this area is a very smart idea indeed. Additionally, getting plenty of practice with minor and major roads, as well as dual carriageways and of course roundabouts will put you in the best position to pass for the first time.

Be smart about when you book your test

You get to choose when to book your test, and it’s vital that you make sure that this works for you rather than against you. For example, booking your test in the middle of a week you already know will be very stressful because work, exams, or family responsibilities might make it harder for you to pass.

Additionally, booking your test far off into the future may give you too much time to get in your head and psych yourself out. Indeed, if you tend to get anxious before exams of any kind, it may be better to use Driving Test Cancellations to get a test date that is much sooner. Then you can limit the time you have to get nervous!

Practice driving in different conditions

Unfortunately, one of the factors in your driving test that you can’t control will be the weather. Indeed, you can book your test in the middle of July and still encounter rain. With that in mind, it’s a very smart idea to practice driving in all conditions. Also practicing in the dark is a smart idea, even if you will book your test in the day, as it will provide you with even more confidence and this will show when it comes to your test day.
