Recently, at one of the AMG performance centres, a friend of mine was invited to test drive the new Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG coupe. He informed me that the plate of the car was registered to a dealership in Chelsea and that the Mercedes S65 AMG Coupe was a delight to drive.
The S65 AMG coupe is powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.0 litre V12 engine that produces 621bhp and 738lb (1000Nm) of torque. This monster of a Mercedes is electronically limited to 155mph and is claimed to return 23.7mpg. The S65 AMG coupe accelerates from 0-60mph in 4.1 seconds which is 0.1 seconds faster than the S63 AMG coupe and very impressive considering the car weights over 2000kg. The seven-speed automatic transmission suits the car well and three modes named Controlled Efficiency, Sport and Manual can be chosen by the driver.
The S-Class coupe range begins at £96,500 for the S500 coupe which will arrive in the UK early in 2015 and the range topping Mercedes S65 AMG coupe pricing startss at around £180,000 before extras. For this wedge of money, this includes: AMG 20 inch alloy wheels fitted as standard, a new sports exhaust and bodywork adjustments. Inside the sumptuous interior includes an AMG sports steering wheel, new sports seats, head-up display and touch display entertainment system.
When my friend returned from the test drive, he witnessed a male with middle eastern descent and his advisor attempting to buy the S65 AMG coupe. The car had been sectioned off within the showroom, ‘sold’ signs displayed nearby. The advisor was translating that the male wanted to buy the car however the salesman stated the car had already been sold to a client. The advisor stated the male would match in cash whatever the car had been sold for. After being denied a sale, the middle eastern male demanded he buy the car for £200,000 cash there and then. Again he was denied and subsequently raised his offer to £250,000 in cash. The salesman informed the man the car had been sold and it was no longer for sale.
Later, the salesman informed my friend the car had been sold to Chelsea football club defender and former England captain John Terry. My friend was delighted that he had driven John Terry’s new Mercedes S65 AMG coupe before he had taken delivery of it. If John Terry soon takes order of an S65 AMG coupe, you heard it here first.
Personally, I think the Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG coupe is a lovely looking car. The elegant body lines and striking looks make it stand out. The interior is just as luxurious as S-class Mercedes have always been and the incredible performance of the car ensure it will turn heads. The car will be pleasurable to drive and a comfortable drivers car with a classy feel.

Absolutley stunning car, will look forward to seeing it in and around cobham if he already has it? Or isn’t it available until next year?
The S65 AMG has been on the road since September, so you may see it soon if the purchase went through. It is the S500 that is available next year.
