Today The Car Spotter will be commenting on the rumoured batman style McLaren P1 GTR that is said to be produced by McLaren after they have secured a £120m loan to assist production.
The loan deal is being led by the Royal Bank of Scotland and includes a syndicate of banks.
This comes at a time when McLaren are expanding both the lower and top product range. with the new Sports Series, codenamed McLaren P13 priced at around £150,000 and the P1 GTR is estimated to cost £2m+ ($3.032m, €2.612m).
Record results were reported last year as sales increased by 21% to 1,648 vehicles which included 248 of the £1m range topping P1 model.
McLaren hopes to produce 4,000 cars annually by 2016, with the new funding helping achieve this aim.
The P1 GTR is rumoured to have 986bhp and cost north of £2 million each. The McLaren P1 GTR will only be available as an invitation only purchase to specific P1 owners. A total of 375 P1 GTR units are set to be produced.
Top Gear magazine have described the P1 GTR renderings as, “like something from a Batman movie”. Images of stealthy, aerodynamic black/dark grey vehicles with huge amounts of power, technology and packed full of gadgets come to mind.
For £2m+ the McLaren P1 GTR will have to impress as it is a large amount of cash for one car.
The McLaren P1 GTR is expected to be in production this year, with talk of the car debuting at the Geneva motor show in March 2015.
Based on this information, the McLaren P1 GTR is certainly an exciting supercar on paper and based on the pictures extremely good to look at, if not better than the McLaren P1. The large wing, sleek body shape and large twin exhausts make it a vicious looking supercar.
