Today The Car Spotter will be talking about a particularly special Ferrari that has recently gone on sale with TopGear imports in New Jersey, United States and is being advertised by the Swedish online company Jamesedition.
It is a rare sight to see a Ferrari F50 go up for sale, yet alone one with just 7 miles (12km) on the clock after 20 years.
With the mileage being so low and the car remaining practically stationary for the last 20 years the price is close to £1 million at £990,000 ($1,495,000). The car was obviously always intended to remain as an appreciating asset when it was purchased.
The Ferrari F50 replaced the Ferrari F40 in 1995 and was built until 1997. Originally only 349 Ferrari F50s were ever made, this is 1 of 50 produced for the US market. With accidents and write-offs that figure will be even fewer today, helping the supercar appreciate in value even further. It is estimated that 302 of the Ferrari F50s were finished in the traditional Rosso Corsa (Ferrari Red), the most popular colour by far. 31 were produced in Giallo Modena (Yellow), 8 in Rosso Barchetta (Dark Red), 4 in Argento Nurburgring (Silver) and 4 in Nero Daytona (Black).
The Ferrari F50 is a two seater roadster with a removable hardtop. The Ferrari F50 has a 4.7 litre naturally aspirated V12 engine that makes 513bhp. The car can go from 0-60mph in just 3.7 seconds and onto a top speed of 193mph. The Ferrari F50 weighs just 1,250kg.
TopGear imports are selling the pristine Rosso Corsa F50 with black leather interior and red accents. Since leaving the Maranello factory in 1995 the car has covered only 7 miles, meaning it has been in storage for the majority of its life and covered on average 0.35 miles per year. Put in perspective, the average car covers 10,000+ miles each year.
The value of the car will only increase as time progresses too, so it would be assumed the car with the low mileage it has will be bought as an investment.
It is a shame the car has presumably never been driven the way it was designed to be, however when cars are kept in this excellent condition they can be enjoyed for years to come. If you want more details of the Ferrari F50, the car is for sale here.
