On the 30th January, Mercedes-AMG released a brilliant video of the Mercedes AMG GT on their youtube channel.
Today The Car Spotter will be discussing the video and the new Mercedes AMG GT.
The video is 51 seconds in length and has the caption ‘Mercedes-AMG: The car you dreamed of as a child, has just been overtaken. Watch the vehicle that was handcrafted by racers in action, the Mercedes-AMG GT’.

Mercedes-AMG have created an advertisement that features a child dreaming of a black Porsche 911 on a race track. A Mercedes AMGT GT finished in AMG Solarbeam, an option that costs a staggering £10,695 comes tearing across the screen. It attempts to push past the black Porsche 911 before accelerating quickly past it. The child then abruptly wakes up and the advert switches back to the yellow Mercedes AMG GT on the race track.
The video demonstrates the loud exhaust noise of the AMG GT and shows the smooth lines and low stance the latest Mercedes AMG model exhibits. Whilst a direct rivalry attack on Porsche, the video is showing how the AMG GT surpasses the Porsche 911.
Both cars have sloping backs and are perfect for the track as well as being road going sports cars.
The Porsche 911 Carrera GTS has a 3.8 litre 6 cylinder engine that produces 430 bhp to the rear wheels. Transmission is either a 7-speed manual or PDK dual clutch transmission. The car travels from 0-60mph in 4.2 seconds and has a top speed of 190mph. The engine of the Porsche is behind the driver, to the rear of the car.
The Mercedes AMG GT S has a biturbo 4.0 litre V8 engine that produces 503hp attached to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. It is reported to have an acceleration 0-60mph time of just 3.7 seconds and a top speed also of 190mph. The engine of the Mercedes AMG GT S is in front of the driver, at the front of the car, unlike the Porsche.
What are your thoughts on the Mercedes AMG GT advertisement? Do you think the Mercedes AMG GT is superior to the Porsche 911?
