Today The Car Spotter will be discussing the recent news that a £150,000+ Lamborghini Gallardo Bicolore crashed into a tree and bounced into the middle of the road where is smashed a concrete bollard and mounted the central reservation before coming to a halt. The incident happened in Beaumont Leys, just outside of Leicester.
The supercar crash happened outside a primary school and a wheel flew off. Onlookers reportedly heard a throaty roar which turned heads and then the orange-coloured sports car came around the corner at speed. The wheel came bouncing through the air at about chest height about 10 feet away. They report the driver was laughing when he got out and after a while boasted he would, “just go out and buy another one tomorrow”.
Fortunately nobody was hurt and the expensive Lamborghini Gallardo appears to be a write off, with extensive damage to the rear left wheel, suspension and damage to the rear bumper and side mirrors amongst other body panels.
Apparently the Asian driver thought it was a joke until his father turned up.
No police details were given after they arrived to inspect the scene.
The Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Bicolore is a special edition Gallardo that was available between 2010 and 2012. This model features Arancio Borealis (orange) paint with the pillars, engine hood and rear spoiler being finished in black. The multi-spoke Skorpius alloys add to the overall look of this limited edition Gallardo. The model has a base price of just under £150,000 without any options.
The overall value of the damaged Lamborghini may have increased further since a lot of supercars appreciate in value.
It is always a shame to see supercars being written off, especially special edition models such as the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Bicolore but at least nobody was hurt. I wonder if the driver did in fact go and buy another one the day after or if this was just talk to dismiss the negative reactions from the crowd at the time who were laughing and taking pictures? Either way, it is quite an arrogant thing to say, given the circumstances but slightly amusing at the same time.
What do you think of the crashed Lamborghini Gallardo Bicolore in Leicester?
