News emerged recently of a 15 year old Russian boy, Konstantin K, who plays as a goalkeeper for FC Zenith St Petersburg football club crashing an Aston Martin DB9. The boy does not yet have a driving license but evidently plenty of cash to spare.
The 15 year old footballer decided to buy himself the grey Aston Martin DB9 as a New Year’s gift with his own money. Two teenagers in tracksuits bearing the clubs logo were reported to have paid cash for the car three days before the incident.
After only three days of paying cash for the car from the previous owner, the Aston Martin DB9 was involved in an accident with a VW Touareg. The Aston took damage largely to the side of the vehicle and the VW Touareg had all the damage done to the front of the vehicle.
Reports state the boy outlined, ‘Before leaving the intersection I looked around, there was no one. Suddenly, out of nowhere, on the right side of me flew a Volkswagen Touareg. My speed was about 40-50km/h (25-30mpg) but he was going around 80km/h (50mph).
Apparently the boy immediately fled the scene and fortunately nobody was injured. He later told Russian media the crash was not his fault.
Judging by the pictures, the car will need a lot of money to be repaired.
Clearly, mixing a boy with little driving experience and no driving license with a high end British supercar is always going to have repercussions. It is generally a good idea to have a low powered car for your first vehicle so you can familiarise yourself. By buying an Aston-Martin for his first car, the young footballer has thrown himself in at the deep end.
Based on pictures alone it is difficult to see who is at fault but the main emphasis of the incident is the fact a boy of only 15 was able to buy a second hand Aston-Martin DB9 and then drove it.
