Today myself, The Car Spotter, will be discussing more of the cars spotted on my previous trip to Dubai.

As many of you may know, Dubai is a hotspot for automobile extravagance, with brash, loud and exciting cars across the city. This doesn’t come as a surprise when Dubai is home to the tallest structure in the world, the Burj Khalifa, the biggest shopping mall in the world and the man made palm islands in the sea.

Jumeirah beach walk is a section of road and shops that runs parallel to the beach and coastline, known for the selection of rare and exotic cars it attracts.

Fortunately, the hotel was only a stone’s throw away and often during the evenings I would go and browse the supercars on display.

Towards the end of my stay, I spotted a strange looking Porsche. It took me a while to realise which model it was due to the customisation and modification the car had.

It turns out the car is built by Royal Customs, a UAE based company who spent 14 months developing the wide body kit and parts. The ‘Alpha One Concept’ is a custom aftermarket kit that incorporates many Porsche designs into one. The Porsche Cayman has headlamps from a Porsche Panamera, Porsche 918 Spyder inspired front and rear bumper and 911 rear lights. It also has quad exhaust pipes, air intakes, large multi-spoke wheels, a huge spoiler, carbon fibre parts and special paint. It takes one month to build the car.

Personally, I think the custom kit is overkill. It detracts from the smooth, clean lines that a Porsche has when it leaves the factory and there are too many parts that don’t work together on one car, a real mash-up. It is unconfirmed if the car has any engine or performance tuning either. The car stood out on the strip, mainly for the wrong reasons. I would personally prefer a stock Porsche Cayman.

With this said however, there will always be people who want to go a little further and ensure their Porsche is different. Beauty is after all in the eye of the beholder. The company have stated they will only be producing three custom kits.

If the kit is bolted to a Porsche Cayman S as the car will feature a 325bhp flat six 3.4 Litre engine with a top speed of 174mph and 0-62 in under 5 seconds with the PDK gearbox, certainly no slouch.

What are your thoughts on the Porsche Cayman? Do you like what Royal Customs has done with the car?
