I often wonder if you were limited to selecting just one supercar of all the existing cars today and in the past then what would you select?
Perhaps a poster pin-up from your childhood years, a car from a particular company or the latest technologically advanced automobile?
Discounting hyper cars and cars that can’t be used on the roads. Which supercar would you select if you could only have one, regardless of insurance, tax and maintenance?
For myself, it is a closely fought competition between two vehicles. One from Mercedes-Benz and the other from Lamborghini. Both cars are two seat coupes, but are both available in roadster format.
The choice for myself lies between two cars, firstly the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. The second, is the Lamborghini Aventador.
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is an attractive, elegant car in terms of appearance. The interior cabin is well balanced and luxurious, a comfortable place to be. I am a particular fan of the communication, navigation and entertainment system of the car. It has an easy to use interface, incorporates auxiliary inputs including iPods very effectively. The long bonnet and low stance of the car give it real presence on the road and the gullwing doors give it a really special feel, if not a bit showy. If building a car from scratch, I would select the metallic black exterior paint, red leather interior and have the optional five spoke alloys.

The Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 is a more brash and in your face choice compared to the SLS AMG, but nobody chooses a Lamborghini to be refined and understated. The car revs high, emits a loud engine and exhaust sound even at low revs and sits extremely low on the tarmac. The bodywork is created at sharp angles and the scissor doors add a touch of exclusivity found on very few other cars. A Lamborghini Aventador makes a statement wherever it travels, the bold colours and uncompromising performance make it an extreme car. I would select the car in a bright orange or pale blue colour with black alloys and a black leather interior.

Between the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG and the Lamborghini Aventador 700-4 I think I would select the SLS AMG due to the fact it has a more elegant appearance and irresistible gullwing doors. The Aventador would be more suited to making a bold statement and is more flamboyant, but as an all round package it has to be the SLS for me.
